ससुर का तो जन्म ही नहीं हुआ- बहु ने मुनिवर से पूँछा आप इतनी जल्दी कैसे आ गये? मुनिवर ने कहा समय का क्या भरोसा, मुनिवर ने पूँछा तुम्हारी उम्र कितनी है? बहु ने कहा मेरी उम्र तीन वर्ष, पति की एक वर्ष, सासु की छः माह और ससुर का अभी जन्म ही नहीं हुआ, ससुर को सुनकर गुस्सा आया और बोला कि मेरे विना तेरा पति कहाँ से आया? और मुनि महाराज से इसका समाधान पाने के लिए गया, मुनि महाराज ने कहा जिसके जीवन में जब धर्म उतरता है तभी से उसका जन्म होता है इस अपेक्षा बहु ने ऐसा उत्तर दिया है।

'The father-in-law is not even born yet': a bride asked a monk how he had come so soon; he said, 'What trust is there in time?' He asked her age. She said, 'My age is three years, my husband's one year, my mother-in-law's six months, and my father-in-law is not yet born.' Hearing this the father-in-law grew angry and said, 'Without me, where did your husband come from?' and went to the monk for resolution. The monk explained that a person's true birth begins only when dharma enters his life — in that sense the bride had answered.
