भूल वश नींद की गोली खाई– जगदलपुर के डॉ. जगदीशचन्द्रमिश्र का बेटा उस दिन स्कूल जाने से मना कर रहा था, माँ ने कहा बेटा आज अन्तिम दिन है, कल से छुट्टियाँ होना है, स्कूल चले जाओ, टेबल पर तुम्हारी गोली रखी है उसको खालो, बेटा ने अपनी गोली के स्थान पर नींद की गोली खाई और स्कूल चला गया, वहाँ उसको नींद आने लगी तो वह क्लास से स्टोर रूम में जाकर सो गया, छुट्टी हो गयी, चपरासी ताला लगा करके चला गया, बच्चा वहीं सोता रहा, जब नींद खुली तो रो-रो कर भूख-प्यास के कारण स्वयं का मूत्र तक पिया और पुस्तकें तक फाड़ कर खालीं और मर गया, पन्द्रह दिन बाद पता चला, माँ की भूल से बच्चे की मौत हो गई।

The son of Dr. Jagdishchandra Mishra of Jagdalpur refused to go to school one day. His mother said it was the last day before the holidays and told him to take the pill on the table. By mistake he swallowed a sleeping pill instead of his own and went to school. Feeling drowsy, he went from the classroom into a storeroom and slept. School closed; the peon locked up and left, and the boy slept on. When he woke, crying from hunger and thirst he even drank his own urine and tore up and ate the books, and died. It was discovered fifteen days later — the child died through the mother's mistake.
