इह जाहि वाहिया वि य, जीवा पावन्ति दारुणं दुक्खं। सेवंता वि य उभये, ताओ चत्तारि सण्णाओ।।

इस लोक में 'आहार, भय, मैथुन और परिग्रह' संज्ञाओं से बाधित होकर जीव तीव्र दुःख पाता है और उनका सेवन करता है तो दोनों लोकों में दुःख पाता है।

In this world beings afflicted by the four instincts of food, fear, sex and possession suffer terrible pain, and by indulging them they suffer in both worlds.
