प्रद्युम्न का वैराग्य– द्वारकाधीश कृष्णजी ने नेमिनाथ भगवान् से पूँछा, भगवन्! ये द्वारका नगरी क्या हमेशा ऐसी ही हरी-भरी बनी रहेगी? भगवान् ने कहा हे कृष्ण! बारह वर्ष के बाद इस नगरी का द्वीपायन के द्वारा विनाश हो जायेगा, सुनकर बहुत लोगों ने दीक्षा ले ली, प्रद्युम्नजी को भी वैराग्य हो गया, प्रद्युम्नजी वसुदेव से आज्ञा लेने जाते हैं, वे कहते है बेटा! अभी तुम्हारे भोग भोगने के दिन हैं न कि वैराग्य धारण करने के, प्रद्युम्नजी ने कहा आप तो संसार के स्तम्भ बने रहो, मैं तो दीक्षा लेता हूँ, स्त्री से कहा प्रिय! मैं दीक्षा लेने जाता हूँ, स्त्री कहती है वैरागी ने प्रिय सम्बोधन कैसे किया? आप लो या न लो मैं तो दीक्षा लेने जाती हूँ, और प्रद्युम्न से पहले उनकी पत्नी दीक्षित हो गयी।

Krishna, lord of Dwarka, asked Lord Neminath whether Dwarka would always stay flourishing. The Lord said it would be destroyed by Dvipayana after twelve years. Hearing this many took initiation, and detachment arose in Pradyumna too. When he sought his father Vasudev's leave, Vasudev said, 'Son, these are your days to enjoy pleasures, not to renounce.' Pradyumna replied, 'You remain a pillar of the world; I will take initiation.' To his wife he said, 'Beloved, I go to be initiated.' She retorted, 'How can a detached man use the word beloved? Whether you take it or not, I am going to be initiated,' and she was initiated before Pradyumna.
