साधु ने एक व्यक्ति को पारस मणि चार माह के लिए दिया, जितना सोना बनाना चाहो बना लो, वह बाजार में लोहा खरीदने गया, आज महँगा हैं कल खरीदेंगे, यह कहते कहते चार माह में लोहा नहीं खरीद सका, साधु ने अपना मणि वापस ले लिया, हमें भी नर भव रूपी मणि मिला, संयम का पालन कल करेंगे, ऐसा सोचकर सारा जीवन खो देते हैं।

A monk gave a man a philosopher's stone for four months, saying make as much gold as you wish. The man went to buy iron but kept saying 'it is dear today, I'll buy tomorrow,' and in four months bought none; the monk took back his gem. So too we have received the gem of human birth, but thinking 'I'll practise restraint tomorrow,' we lose the whole life.
