वज्रदन्त चक्रवर्ती–वज्रदन्त चक्रवर्ती को माली ने सहस्रदल कमल भेंट किया, उसके अन्दर भौंरा मरा पड़ा था, देखकर सोचने लगे ओ हो! घ्राण इन्द्रिय के वशीभूत होकर मर गया। इससे चक्रवर्ती को वैराग्य हो गया, बड़े बेटे से कहा कि राज सम्भालो हम दीक्षा लेंगे, बेटा कहता है पिताजी राज अच्छा है या बुरा यदि अच्छा है तो आप क्यों छोड़ रहे हो, बुरा है तो प्यारे बेटे को क्यों दे रहे हो, हजार बेटों में से किसी ने भी राज नही लिया। गर्भस्थ शिशु को राज देकर सभी ने दीक्षा ले ली।

A gardener presented Chakravarti Vajradant a thousand-petalled lotus in which a bee lay dead. Seeing it he reflected, 'Alas! It died a slave to the sense of smell.' Detachment arose in him and he told his eldest son to take the throne so he could renounce. The son asked, 'Is kingship good or bad? If good, why leave it; if bad, why give it to a beloved son?' None of his thousand sons accepted the throne, so he gave it to the child yet in the womb, and all took initiation.
