आशागर्तः प्रतिप्राणी, यस्मिन् विश्वमणूपमं। कस्य किं कियदायाति, वृथा वो विषयेषिता।।

प्रत्येक प्राणी के हृदय में तृष्णा रूपी गड्ढा इतना बड़ा है, कि तीन लोक की सम्पत्ति एक प्राणी के गड्ढे में डाल दी जाए तो वह परमाणु के बराबर दिखेगी तब किसको क्या और कितना मिलेगा अतः विषयों की आशा व्यर्थ है।

The pit of craving in each being's heart is so vast that if the wealth of the three worlds were poured into one being's pit it would seem no bigger than an atom; so who will get what and how much? The hope of sense-objects is therefore futile.
