पर्व तीन प्रकार के होते हैं- 1. अनादि निधन पर्व- दस लक्षण, सोलहकारण आदि, 2. घटनाविशेष से संबंधित पर्व- रक्षाबन्धन, अक्षय तृतीया आदि, 3. निमित्तविशेष से संबंधितपर्व- पञ्चकल्याणक आदि।

Holy occasions are of three kinds: 1. beginningless-endless parvas, such as the Ten Virtues and the Sixteen Causes; 2. parvas linked to a particular event, such as Rakshabandhan and Akshaya Tritiya; 3. parvas linked to a particular occasion, such as the Panchakalyanaka.
