बेटी से माँ कहती है, तुम काम मत करो, ससुराल से थककर आई हो। बेटी कितना भी खाये, माँ यही कहेगी, बेटी कुछ खाती ही नहीं, वही माँ बहु के लिये कहती है न जाने कहाँ से आयी राक्षसी खाती है ढेर सारा, काम कुछ नहीं करती। बहु को उदार दृष्टि से देखें और अवगुणों को भी गुण समझें, सम्यग्दृष्टि सास वही है जो बहु-बेटी दोनों को समान देखे, सम्यग्दृष्टि बहु वह है जो माँ और सास को एक जैसा देखे।

A mother tells her daughter, 'Don't do any work, you've come tired from your in-laws.' However much the daughter eats, the mother says she 'hardly eats a thing'; yet the same mother says of the daughter-in-law, 'This demoness eats heaps and does no work.' Look upon the daughter-in-law with a generous eye and treat even her faults as virtues. A right-believing mother-in-law is one who sees both daughter-in-law and daughter alike, and a right-believing daughter-in-law is one who sees her mother and mother-in-law alike.
