सुखाय दुःखानि गुणाय दोषान्, धर्माय पापानि समाचरन्ति। तैलाय बाला: सिकतासमूहं, निपीडयन्ति स्फुटमत्वदीया:।।

अज्ञानी प्राणी सुख को प्राप्त करने के लिए दुःख के साधन जुटाता है, गुण प्राप्त करने के लिए दोष देखता है, धर्म के लिए पाप करता है, उसका ऐसा करना मानो तैल के लिए रेत पेलने जैसा है।

The ignorant gather the means of sorrow to attain happiness, cultivate faults to gain virtue, and commit sin for the sake of dharma; their doing so is like pressing sand to get oil.
