कपूत का जबाव, माँगा माँ से दवा का हिसाब- बेटा बोला, माँ मैंने तुम्हारी साड़ी और दवाई में इतना खर्च किया है उसका बिल दो, माँ ने कहा बेटा तुम्हें याद नहीं मैंने तुम्हारे लिये कितना खर्च किया, नौ माह पेट में रखा, गर्मी, ठण्डी, वर्षा में स्वयं न सोकर तुम्हें सुलाया भूखे रहकर तुम्हे खिलाया, मैं गीले में तुम्हे सूखे में सुलाया, सभाओं में अपमान सहा, मैंने तुमसे कभी बिल नहीं माँगा?

'An unworthy son's reply, the mother asked for the medicine bill' — the son said, 'Mother, I have spent so much on your sari and medicine; pay the bill.' The mother said, 'Son, do you not remember how much I spent on you? I kept you nine months in my womb, stayed awake through heat, cold and rain to let you sleep, went hungry to feed you, lay on the wet and put you on the dry, bore insult in gatherings — did I ever ask you for a bill?'
