कुम्भकार मिट्टी का घड़ा बनाकर उसे तपने के लिये भट्टा में रख देता है, पकने के पहले उसमें पानी की एक बून्द भी नहीं पड़ने देता, और पकजाने पर जल घड़े का कुछ बिगाड़ नहीं पाता, उसी प्रकार माता-पिता बच्चों को कठोर अनुशासन में रखते हैं, तो वे बड़े होने पर बिगड़ नहीं पाते हैं।

A potter shapes a clay pot and places it in the kiln to bake, allowing not a drop of water to touch it before it is fired; once fired, water can do it no harm. Likewise, when parents keep their children under firm discipline, they do not go astray when grown.
