सत्ता और सत्य यूँ ही सीधे-सीधे नहीं मिलते हैं, दोनों के लिए तप जरूरी है। सत्ता दूसरों को सता-सता कर मिलती है और सत्य स्वयं को तपा-तपा कर प्राप्त किया जाता है। सत्ता शाश्वत नहीं है, सत्ता का पत्ता कभी भी कट सकता है, लेकिन सत्य शाश्वत है, सत्ता और सत्य दोनों के बीच युद्ध होता है, लेकिन महाभारत का उदाहरण साक्षी है कि युद्ध के अठारहवें दिन जीत सत्य की ही हुई थी।

Power and truth are not attained easily; both demand austerity. Power is gained by tormenting others, while truth is attained by refining oneself through penance. Power is not eternal — its card can be cut at any time — but truth is eternal. Between power and truth there is war, yet the Mahabharata bears witness that on the eighteenth day it was truth that triumphed.
