वर्तमान के षडावश्यक- लोग देवपूजा नहीं डॉक्टर पूजा करते हैं, मन्दिर परिक्रमा नहीं अस्पताल की परिक्रमा करते हैं, गुरु उपासना नहीं टी.वी. की उपासना करते हैं, स्वाध्याय के नाम पर समाचार पत्र पलटाते हैं, संयम जेल या अस्पताल में करते हैं, तप पैसा कमाने के लिए मेले में या बाज़ार में धूप में बैठकर करते हैं, दान के नाम पर टेक्स या घूस देते हैं।

The six essentials of today - people worship not the divine but the doctor; they circumambulate not the temple but the hospital; they revere not the Guru but the television; in the name of scriptural study they flip through newspapers; they practise restraint only in jail or hospital; they do penance sitting in the sun at fairs or markets to earn money; and in the name of charity they pay taxes or bribes.
