पहली मूर्ति एक कान से सुनती और दूसरे कान से निकाल देती थी, दूसरी मूर्ति कान से सुनती और देखकर मौन हो जाती, तीसरी मूर्ति कान से सुनती और मुँह से बता देती, चैथी मूर्ति कान से सुनती और ह्रदय में धारण कर लेती, इसलिए उनकी कीमत क्रमश: एक-दो-तीन-चार हजार थी, हम कौन सी और कितनी कीमत की मूर्ति हैं स्वयं पहचाने।

The first statue heard with one ear and let it out the other; the second heard, observed and stayed silent; the third heard and blurted it out of its mouth; the fourth heard and held it in its heart — so their prices were one, two, three and four thousand respectively.
