शास्त्ररूपी समुद्र से निकाल कर गणधरादि सत्पुरुष रूप मेघों ने जिसकी वर्षा की है,ऐसे चारों अनुयोग रूप जल को भव्य जीव रूपी चातक प्रीति के लिए बार-बार पियें। 'इन्द्रियों के निरोधपूर्वक' किया गया स्वाध्याय परम तप है।

Let worthy souls, like the chataka bird, drink again and again with love the water of the four Anuyogas — rained down by the clouds of noble ones such as the Ganadharas, drawn from the ocean of scripture. Self-study done with restraint of the senses is the supreme austerity.
