रामचन्द्र जी बाल्यावस्था में पानी में चन्द्रमा को देखकर उसे पकड़ कर खेलना चाहते थे, नहीं पकड़ पाने पर रोने लगे, पूँछा क्यों रोते हो? मन्त्री ने कहा चन्द्रमा चाहिये, राजा ने कहा! ले आओ चन्द्रमा को, मन्त्री ने दर्पण रख दिया, उसमें बिम्ब पड़ा देखकर, रामचन्द्रजी प्रसन्न हो गये, दर्पण छाती से चिपका कर खेलने लगे, इसी प्रकार ज्ञानज्योति को पाकर ज्ञानी प्रसन्न होता है।

As a child, Ramachandra saw the moon reflected in water and wanted to catch and play with it; unable to grasp it, he began to cry. When asked why, the minister said he wanted the moon; the king ordered it be brought. The minister set down a mirror, and seeing the moon's image in it, Ramachandra grew happy and played, clasping the mirror to his chest. In the same way, on obtaining the light of knowledge, the wise one rejoices.
