स्वाध्याय से मिलता ज्ञान, पूज्य जगत में हो विद्वान्। है यह सुख सम्पति की खान, कोई वस्तु न इसके समान।। स्वाध्याय से पाते बुद्धि, स्वाध्याय से मन की शुद्धि। स्वध्याय से मिलता ज्ञान, इसके बिन नर पशु समान।। आत्मज्ञान धन गुप्त महान, ज्ञानदान से बढता मान। भाई बाँटे हरे न चोर, यथा शक्ति इस धन को जोड़।। सुख में दुख में एक समान, जिनवाणी है मात समान। माता सकल गुणों की खान, इससे बने वीर भगवान।।

From self-study comes knowledge, and the learned are revered in the world; it is a mine of joy and prosperity, nothing equals it. From self-study comes intellect and purity of mind; without it a person is like a beast. Self-knowledge is a great hidden wealth, and giving knowledge increases honour; brothers cannot divide it nor thieves steal it — so gather this wealth to your utmost. Equal in joy and sorrow, the Jina's word is like a mother, a mine of all virtues, from which even Lord Mahavir arose.
