अन्तो णत्थि सुदीणं, कालो थोवो वयं च दुम्मेहा। तण्णवरि सिक्खिदव्वं, जं जरमरणं खयं कुणदि।।

श्रुत का पार नहीं है, समय अल्प और बुद्धि मंद है, अत: वह अवश्य सीखना चाहिये जिससे जन्म, जरा और मरण का नाश हो जाए।

The scriptures are boundless, time is short, and intellect is dull; therefore one must surely learn that which destroys birth, old age and death.
