यत्र विद्वज्जनो नास्ति श्लाघ्यस्तत्राल्पधीरपि। निरस्तपादपे देशे एरण्डोऽपि द्रुमायते।।

जहाँ पर विद्वान नहीं होते हैं वहाँ पर अल्प बुद्धि भी प्रशंसनीय होता है, जिस प्रकार जहाँ पर वृक्ष नहीं होते हैं, वहाँ एरण्ड का पेड़ ही वृक्ष माना जाता है।

Where there are no learned people, even one of small intellect is praised — just as where there are no trees, even the castor-oil plant is counted as a tree.
