Fourteen kinds of listeners: 1. clay, 2. sieve, 3. buffalo, 4. swan, 5. parrot (remembers exactly what it hears), 6. cat (cunning), 7. crane (hypocrite), 8. mosquito, 9. goat (slow to grasp, full of desire), 10. leech, 11. like a cracked pot, 12. beast (listening under pressure), 13. snake, 14. like a rock — these are the fourteen types of listeners.
