भगवान् किसी का भला-बुरा नहीं करते, यदि भगवान् भला करते तो मन्दिर के द्वार पर बैठा भिखारी जीवन भर क्यों हाथ फैलाता? रोज पूजा करने वाला पुजारी क्यों निर्धन रहता? और बुरा करते तो मंदिर मूर्ति को तोड़ने वाले क्यों महलों में सुख से रहते? अतः सत्य यह है सुख-दुःख स्वयं के भावों से किए कर्माधीन हैं।

God does neither good nor harm to anyone. If God did good, why would the beggar at the temple door stretch out his hand his whole life? Why would the priest who worships daily remain poor? And if God did harm, why would those who smash temple idols live happily in palaces? So the truth is that happiness and sorrow are governed by the karma made from one's own feelings.
