मरणासन्न की जिस स्तुति पाठादि में रुचि है वही सुनाना चाहिए यदि जीवन में धर्म नहीं किया हो तो संसार का स्वरूप समझाते हुए विषय-कषाय का त्याग कराकर दानादि की प्रेरणा करना चाहिए।

To one who is dying one should recite the hymn or text he is drawn to; if he has not practiced dharma in life, one should explain the nature of the world, help him renounce sensual passions, and inspire him toward charity and the like.
