जिनके अभिमान, काम क्रोधादि कषाय शान्त नहीं हुई है, जिनको इन्द्रियजन्य विषय भोगों से विरक्ति नहीं हुई है, जो जन्म-मरणादि के दुःख से भयभीत नहीं हैं जिन्हें शरीर सम्बन्धी सुख आदि से अभी वैराग्य नहीं हुआ है ऐसे प्राणियों की दीक्षा संसार में मात्र उदर पूर्ति के लिए ही है, मुक्ति प्राप्ति के लिए नहीं है, अतः ऐसे गुरुओं को तो दूर से ही त्याग देना चाहिए।

Those whose passions of pride, lust, and anger have not been calmed, who have not turned away from sensual enjoyments, who are not afraid of the sufferings of birth and death, and who have not yet developed detachment from bodily pleasures — the initiation of such beings serves only to fill the belly, not to attain liberation; hence such 'gurus' should be shunned from afar.
