पत्थर पर कितनी टाँकियों की चोट लगती है, यदि टाँकियों की चोट सहले तो पूज्य मूर्ति बन जाती है यदि टाँकी की चोट न सह सके और भग्न हो जावे तो वह पत्थर भी किसी काम का नहीं रहता इसी प्रकार नाना विपदाओं का सहन हो जावे तो आत्मा महात्मा बन जाता है, यदि न सह सके तो संसारी बन जाता है।

How many blows of the chisel a stone endures; if it bears the chisel's blows it becomes a worshipful idol, but if it cannot bear the chisel's blows and breaks, then that stone is fit for nothing. Likewise, if manifold calamities are endured, the soul becomes a great soul; if it cannot bear them, it remains worldly.
