इच्छा करना अपनी आत्मा को दुःखी करना है। जिसकी इच्छा की जाती है उसका परिणमन उसके होनहार से होता है इच्छा से अपना बिगाड़ करने के अलावा और कुछ नहीं होता। कदाचित् इच्छा के अनुकूल उसी की होनहार से कुछ हो भी जावे तो भी राग रूपी कीचड़ लपेट देने के सिवाय आत्मा को और क्या मिल जाता है?

To desire is to make one's own soul miserable. That which is desired transforms according to its own destiny; desiring accomplishes nothing but spoiling oneself. Even if, by its own destiny, something happens to accord with the desire, what does the soul gain other than being smeared with the mud of attachment?
