दुःख में दुःखी, सुख में सुखी रहने वाला पुरुष अधम है, दुःख में भी सुखी रहने वाला मध्यम पुरुष है, दुःख सुख में समान रहने वाला उत्तम पुरुष है और दुःख सुख की कल्पना से भी रहित है वह उत्तमोत्तम है।

The man who is miserable in sorrow and happy in pleasure is base; the man who stays happy even in sorrow is middling; the man who stays even in sorrow and pleasure is superior; and one who is free even of the very notions of sorrow and pleasure is the best of the best.
